So much to look forward to...

Well its getting into my "busy" season;) One of my supervisors is out on medical leave until the 1st week in June and ALL the places in the county like to have a health fair (or multiple ones) every weekend from March-June so all I have to say is thank goodness there is more than one of us still. You can only go to so many health fairs and not have a life on the weekends for so long and I feel that I have put in my time...I say this b/c of my time at Disney and working whatever days you get scheduled for and now at the CHD I work Mon-Fri plus at least part of a Sat and some evenings:( Ok I'm done with that rant.

Next up is that I have about 10 little ones lined up for swim lessons, now the only problem or snafu is coordinating it all while working 5 days and sometimes Saturdays and still do Disney (that is going to be the first to go let me just tell you...no worries I would still be seasonal there and get my perks). This is just more incentive to do the PediaSwim training though let me just tell you. Again anyone out there that knows of a grant that could fund the training for me I would LOVE you FOREVER!!!!!! Its really sad when your Head Supervisor is trying to get you out of your current position because she knows you don't want to or need to be there forever...all the more reason to go to the training I say, I just can't do the training and work full time and since this girl doesn't have anyone else supporting her, I (ok no more 3rd person;) will just have to wait a bit:(

Change of subject, its been funny lately b/c I have been SOOOOO many compliments on my hair and its funny b/c I'm really in need of a hair cut and I have been straightening it since sometime in December so that's not new. I'm flattered yet confused was it not nice a few weeks ago?!?! So needless to say here are some pics of possible haircuts

So I love Ginnifer's cut, probably wouldn't go that short and as much as I dislike Miss Kristen here her new cut is super cute (or so I would like to think), I can't do the short sideswept bang thing though (tried it last year and it wasn't working for me). Anyways any input would be great, thanks!!!!
Let me just say before I continue to rant, I am trying to figure out a "topic" to focus on for my blog but since I only have one to two people I talk to on a regular basis about the above topics I feel the need to write it out somewhere, so I'm sorry in advance for all the randomness I have going on.
Ok next random topic is my Body Pump instructor training...no I'm not teaching yet and I have to ask for an extension on my video submission. I have not been able to get on the same schedule as my group fitness mgr b/c of things going on with her and her family, nothing bad just everyday running around and my mostly out of control work schedule. Now with this being the start of launch week in the area I might not be able to get checked off until early May (my video is due May 28th but I have to team teach 8x before I can do a video) so needless to say I just keep practicing the same choreography over and over and over again. I really just want to get those 1st couple of times on stage out of the way.
I will keep everyone posted on my decisions and progress regarding the above topics so until then, night night all!!!!

Its getting warm outside:)

Ok so I have voiced my opinion before about how I enjoy some colder (maybe cooler) weather especially living in FL where it tends to be 95 degrees for 10 months out of the year. I am extremely excited that it has just started warming up within the last week or so, this means it is only going to be uncomfortably hot for 8 months this year...a girl can hope right?!?! I got to lay by the pool on Saturday and on my back patio for a bit on Sunday to catch some rays or as my sister would put it "some good old vitamin D." I am glad that the mornings are still on the cooler side and not crazy humid and sticky (I mean I can still straighten my hair so that is a GREAT sign).

I did not even attempt to touch the water in the pool no matter how hot and sweaty I got, I might have suffered from hypothermia if I had done that. My community pool is not heated and it is usually too chilly in July and August let alone the beginning of April. Also w/all of the swim lessons I have lined up for the spring/summer/fall I will get my fair share of chilly water!!!!

Also it is Spring Break in Orlando let me tell you...I met a friend for lunch yesterday at Downtown Disney and had to take the long way (distance wise of course) because the traffic backed-up over 2 miles just at a stop light. And on top of everything else NO ONE knows where they are going ugh...at least I don't have to drive back that way until Friday evening. This is THE busiest time of the year for Disney w/the exception of the week between Christmas and New Years, this just lasts ALL month. Again no one would be able to tell we are in a supposed recession in this country with the amounts of money being spent in the Parks and restaurants. As a former Disney resort lifeguard this means its a time when all the nasty people come out, they have been saving up all winter to yell at the lifeguards, coordinators, managers, and other recreation staff about how we don't have enough chairs, the waitresses are not coming around frequently enough, oh and another good one is "could you please move a table, chairs, and umbrella right here please b/c this is where I want to sit?" my response "no ma'am the tables, chairs, and umbrellas cannot be moved especially ALL the way to the OTHER side of the pool area"; for anyone that have ever been to or seen pictures of the Yacht & Beach Clubs Stormalong Bay (fancy name for pool area;) you will know that the area is quite large and we have approx 3 separate hotels using the same pool area and everyone wants a chair (of course one for EVERY member of their family even the 2 y/o), umbrella, table, etc, needless to say the previously mentioned items are NOT moved at the drop of the hat. Another thing is that their kid is a good swimmer and doesn't need to wear a lifejacket (well them Mr. they are not allowed to enjoy the slide anymore...that doesn't go over well either); most of these said children have not beeing swimming for at least 5 months and if they were a good swimmer in August that doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be now, swimming isn't always like riding a bike especially if there are different elements working against you (i.e. sand on the bottom, lazy river current, whirlpool, longest waterslide at any Disney resort, oh and hundreds of other families). That is enough of my ranting but makes you want to go see what this pool is all about huh?!?! It is definitely one of a kind and I have many good memories from their, good thing I still know people;)

Oh on another note I was the only one in a 4 table radius wearing a Butler shirt the other night (courtesy of my college roomie who used to coach swimming there) and I still came out alive;) Trust me it was tough since most of my friends here are MSU fans/alumni and I was chit chatting about back home with the table next to me (they were visiting from St. Joe, MI) and befriending them. I assured them I was a nice fan and wouldn't get to rowdy either way;) So tonight I think I am going to have to enjoy the game from the comfort of my own couch since all the guys are now in a deep depression at least until football season...

Well I better be on my way talk to you soon (I promise)

Yea, yea, yea

This weekend, I WILL post promise;) I have been super busy lately so when I get home at night I just want to sit there and do nothing...I really should be practicing my Body Pump choreography but I can't get motivated. Tomorrow is finally a day off from the gym and all types of working out for me!!!! I haven't taken a day off since the 25th, crazy I know but lately our other instructors at the gym have needed alot of support and I know I'm only one person but it makes me feel better to be supporting them as that's what I will need when I start teaching (yea that's right people coming to my class:)

One last quick thing before I get carried away, I'm getting more and more frustrated with some of my community partners, I know everyone has a VERY busy schedule and can only attend so many meetings a day, but when a meeting is (and has been) consistently on your calendar for almost 3 years w/almost no changes to the time, location, or date it would be greatly appreciated by the meeting organizer that you try to attend. I only had one person show up to my Community Coalition of Osceola Water Safety meeting yesterday and even she was just representing someone else. I do appreciate her coming and we got to catch up on other things too:) Ugh I know if I get asked to go to another meeting/training/event etc if I already have something on my calendar I usually say I can't attend because I have something previously scheduled and try to reschedule or I just don't go, but the day, location, and time have NOT changed for this particular meeting in almost 3 yrs (yes I know I already stated that but just have to reiterate), granted the time change but I informed everyone of this more than one month ago.

Ok that is all I have for now, I will post more this weekend and it will be more encompassing of other things going on!!

Have a great day and hopefully its not raining where you are!!!

Shopping addiction:)

Ok so it has been mentioned before about the women of the Hummell Family but its true and its bad...I love to shop and so does the rest of the family. A couple of weeks ago I had jury duty (obviously not the highlight of my day) but once I got officially released from duty I though hmmm, I going to be passing the Millenia Mall (for you all in Indiana its very similar to Keystone Crossing in Indy) on my way home and its only 12:30 so I think I should stop in since I haven't been there in quite some time.

As always I was not there shopping for anything in particular but of course I left with a few impulse purchases...I know I know you are saying then why even bother stopping??? Because I am usually a good "browser" and have been able to walk out many times with ZERO purchases, I swear;) As I started my trek I stopped into Arden B, now I definitely usually just browse here b/c the jeans are all too long for me and I don't really have anywhere to wear their tops and dresses too, but I like to look. Needless to say I got a shirt off the clearance rack...now I just have to have a place to wear it to.

Next stop Hallmark to look at the Vera Bradley bags, oh how I love Vera and all her cute bags and fabrics but why does she have to be so pricey. The collection I currently have of course retired a few years ago so if I wanted my things to match I have to shop ebay for them. So you might ask then why even stop?? Well I did b/c I am determined to find a new favorite pattern, again though I held off as I almost splurged on a bag I told myself would be for taking to and from the gym (which if you haven't learned yet I am at quite a bit). Vera Bradley 0 Marci 1...

Ahh then across the hall just happens to be American Eagle, yes I still shop there on occassion no judging please. With this in mind I also know that their clothes go on sale very often so I rarely buy anything full price, except for this day in particular of course...a new pair of shorts who doesn't NEED them?!?!:) Plus they were a size smaller than I have EVER got so that was enticing too:)

A stroll thru Macy's was in order though nothing was tried on or carried and then discarded, success again!!! I'm telling you I could walk/look at clothes and other said items all day and not get a thing, promise;)

Now onto the second floor...oh before I get there I must tell you it was a good thing that PacSun did not have any sale bathing suits yet, more money saved!!! The 2nd floor is where it got messy though friends...White House Black Market. I originally tell the sales lady I am just looking and then I remember I have a couple of weddings this spring/early summer that I could always use a new dress for...now I am on a mission.

The ladies were extremely helpful (for obvious reasons) and before it was said and done I'm pretty sure I tried on nearly every dress in the store...and like most girls I ended up with the first one I tried on;) Now I did not make the purchase right away, I put it on hold and told the sales lady I would be back within the hour. So I went on my way and of course called Momma E in the mean time to have her tell me that this splurge was acceptable and that I wasn't crazy (or at least too crazy), now I really should have called Clare b/c she is always the voice of reason on purchases such as this;) jk but I always like her response. Momma E said sure what girl doesn't need a new dress, even it is a little pricey and NOT on sale:0

I finished my mall browsing with no other purchases made, I completely skipped Forever XXI b/c I didn't think I was up for sifting thru their mess of clothes, though I always find something super cute.

Back to WHBM I went, I have let myself become content with my purchase to be and could tell from the sales lady's face that she wasn't 100% sure I was going to come back either. Ha I proved her wrong;) Really she was so nice thru it all I didn't really want her to feel bad either...ok prob not a good excuse but it works.

Since this shopping excursion I have purchased a few more gym clothes items, a new hair dryer (which was definitely a need), Jimmy Buffet tickets (x2), a pedicure, hair cut, and I'm sure there are some other things I'm missing but I its true I NEED to make myself stay away from spending money unless it is absolutely necessary, but sometimes I go through spells, I tell myself it happens to everyone.

So now since I know what I already have going on this week and maybe next my cards will be under tight discrentionary use...groceries and gas, ok and maybe a few drinks at the Buffet concert (that is a must;) Don't worry Momma E and Daddy J all bills are being paid w/money still going into savings, I mean I have a new car to buy next month!!!!!

Now that it has taken me almost two days to write this I'm going to bed, nite nite all!!!!:)

A new leaf..

Ok so this past weekend I had a lot of "Marci" time to think about things and try to figure out how to move forward. I really don't like not liking my job and always complaining about it so I'm doing something about it. I always get jealous when someone says they love there job, or even like it. I can honestly say that unlike most people I actually look forward to days that I have meetings, presentations, or classes to teach: it gives me something productive to do and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I have found that if ANYONE needs to get out of a slump, watch Friends, it is hilarious, oh but you should definitely watch them in order; check them out from the library if you don't know anyone with them or want to buy them. Best thing ever:)

Well lots has been going on the since my last "major" post, you know a couple of weeks ago, I will get better at this I promise!!! Last weekend I went to lunch and frozen yogurt with my Disney friend Arin (that's a girl for anyone who cares), there is a new frozen yogurt place in Dr. Philips and they have EVERY topping imaginable and you can mix any flavor of yogurt you want (they charge you by the ounces). After that I went to the Bud Shootout in Daytona and other than the awful headache I got, I had a great time! Sunday was the Superbowl and it was the Colts vs. the Saints, honestly did not care who won though I was definitely pulling for my Colts (and was the only one doing so at my friends small gathering). It was a great game and good food and drinks were had by all, had an early morning at the gym the next day so nothing crazy;) On Wednesday I saw "Dear John" w/The Roomie and her friend The Nurse, it was good but would only recommend it as a $1 rental...

This past weekend as mentioned previously was spent as ALOT of "marci" time, we'll start w/looking for a new job, helped The Leonards book their Disney resort(!!) via skype, of course went to the gym, got my hair trimmed, them ate bad food on Sat night and watched Friends. Sunday started out at the gym...note the bad food I ate Sat night HAD to get out of my system;), met my friend Fire Girl for a pedicure, then met co-worker, Bio-Lady, at the movies for "Valentine's Day" (if you saw "He's just not that into you", then you have already seen this movie, just with a couple of different high profile actors/actresses). Finally finished up my weekend working at Disney. This is something else I made a big decision about this weekend and after a talk I had w/a mgr today, I'm pretty sure I'm going to change my status to seasonal. This will give me the flexibility to work when I want to work and not have a set schedule...I have been working every Fri and Sun night for almost 3 yrs and its getting old. Now yes I could change the nights I work but I don't really like everyone on other nights so I'm sure that wouldn't help my "situation" so to speak. No worries though I will still get discounts and passes into the parks just not as many and that's ok b/c I don't think I have ever used close to all of my passes...ever.

I have a lot coming up in the next couple of weeks...Jimmy Buffet next Thursday, work in Tampa next Thursday, BodyPump Instructor training Fri-Sun (yes 3 WHOLE days of lifting weights and learning choreography...) and then mom and dad Hummell will be here in a month!!!!

One last thing I almost forgot I have my orientation to be a volunteer at the Central Florida Ronald McDonald House on Thursday so that should be fun, its only 6 hours a month or something like that, I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Nite Nite, its time for One Tree Hill and the Bachelor!!!!

I know, I know

So no worries my friends I will be updating more later this evening but didn't want you to all think I forgot that once I started this I couldn't stop, just haven't taken the time to sit at the computer (when not at work) and write anything...so until later...

Annoyed

I would just like to reinterate how much I do not like doing powerpoint after powerpoint for the SAME program. I could understand maybe one for youth, one for medical professionals, and one for adults...honestly is that too much to ask?!?! But NO I have to do a NEW presentation for EVERY group I present to and not by choice. To top it all off I don't really even care what they are about and I know that most of the information is not going to affect at least a half of the participants and mainly because most people already have their mind made up about smoking, whether to smoke or not to smoke...ugh plus I seem to always be told to change this slide and change that one, add most statistics to ALL of these, etc, etc. SO frustrated and can't wait to see what a new fiscal year has to bring, like maybe monies to have to drowning prevention program again!!!!! Too bad the new fiscal year is not for another 5 months:(

Also I'm trying to figure out how I would be able to make a living if I just taught CPR, swim lessons, and car seat technicians (the last two would require me to take a bit more specialized training which means more money out of my pocket). To teach CPR on my own I would have to invest in manikins and all the other supplies to hold a class and for the specialized swim instructor training it can be upwards of $12,000 and approx 6-8 weeks of training Mon-Fri...AHHHH, the lead instructors for this type of training are always saying "well you could always take out a loan that's what most of the instructor candidates do."..really?!?! The Car Seat Tech Instructor would not cost nearly as much but almost the same amount of time would be required...can't figure out how I would be able to live for 6-8 weeks or more while I took the above trainings but that would be the best situation on the job front...I think...oh decisions decisions. Plus these are all things that are NEEDED everywhere and anywhere.

Another thing why are all of the new energy efficient light bulbs to big or long to fit "older" fictures?!?! I have tried 2 different bulbs and neither have worked so far, ugh so back tp Publix I go but not tonight of course b/c the Bachelor is on...see where my priorities are???

Ok well until tomorrow, or Wed or Thurs...nite nite
