Shopping addiction:)

Ok so it has been mentioned before about the women of the Hummell Family but its true and its bad...I love to shop and so does the rest of the family. A couple of weeks ago I had jury duty (obviously not the highlight of my day) but once I got officially released from duty I though hmmm, I going to be passing the Millenia Mall (for you all in Indiana its very similar to Keystone Crossing in Indy) on my way home and its only 12:30 so I think I should stop in since I haven't been there in quite some time.

As always I was not there shopping for anything in particular but of course I left with a few impulse purchases...I know I know you are saying then why even bother stopping??? Because I am usually a good "browser" and have been able to walk out many times with ZERO purchases, I swear;) As I started my trek I stopped into Arden B, now I definitely usually just browse here b/c the jeans are all too long for me and I don't really have anywhere to wear their tops and dresses too, but I like to look. Needless to say I got a shirt off the clearance rack...now I just have to have a place to wear it to.

Next stop Hallmark to look at the Vera Bradley bags, oh how I love Vera and all her cute bags and fabrics but why does she have to be so pricey. The collection I currently have of course retired a few years ago so if I wanted my things to match I have to shop ebay for them. So you might ask then why even stop?? Well I did b/c I am determined to find a new favorite pattern, again though I held off as I almost splurged on a bag I told myself would be for taking to and from the gym (which if you haven't learned yet I am at quite a bit). Vera Bradley 0 Marci 1...

Ahh then across the hall just happens to be American Eagle, yes I still shop there on occassion no judging please. With this in mind I also know that their clothes go on sale very often so I rarely buy anything full price, except for this day in particular of course...a new pair of shorts who doesn't NEED them?!?!:) Plus they were a size smaller than I have EVER got so that was enticing too:)

A stroll thru Macy's was in order though nothing was tried on or carried and then discarded, success again!!! I'm telling you I could walk/look at clothes and other said items all day and not get a thing, promise;)

Now onto the second floor...oh before I get there I must tell you it was a good thing that PacSun did not have any sale bathing suits yet, more money saved!!! The 2nd floor is where it got messy though friends...White House Black Market. I originally tell the sales lady I am just looking and then I remember I have a couple of weddings this spring/early summer that I could always use a new dress for...now I am on a mission.

The ladies were extremely helpful (for obvious reasons) and before it was said and done I'm pretty sure I tried on nearly every dress in the store...and like most girls I ended up with the first one I tried on;) Now I did not make the purchase right away, I put it on hold and told the sales lady I would be back within the hour. So I went on my way and of course called Momma E in the mean time to have her tell me that this splurge was acceptable and that I wasn't crazy (or at least too crazy), now I really should have called Clare b/c she is always the voice of reason on purchases such as this;) jk but I always like her response. Momma E said sure what girl doesn't need a new dress, even it is a little pricey and NOT on sale:0

I finished my mall browsing with no other purchases made, I completely skipped Forever XXI b/c I didn't think I was up for sifting thru their mess of clothes, though I always find something super cute.

Back to WHBM I went, I have let myself become content with my purchase to be and could tell from the sales lady's face that she wasn't 100% sure I was going to come back either. Ha I proved her wrong;) Really she was so nice thru it all I didn't really want her to feel bad either...ok prob not a good excuse but it works.

Since this shopping excursion I have purchased a few more gym clothes items, a new hair dryer (which was definitely a need), Jimmy Buffet tickets (x2), a pedicure, hair cut, and I'm sure there are some other things I'm missing but I its true I NEED to make myself stay away from spending money unless it is absolutely necessary, but sometimes I go through spells, I tell myself it happens to everyone.

So now since I know what I already have going on this week and maybe next my cards will be under tight discrentionary use...groceries and gas, ok and maybe a few drinks at the Buffet concert (that is a must;) Don't worry Momma E and Daddy J all bills are being paid w/money still going into savings, I mean I have a new car to buy next month!!!!!

Now that it has taken me almost two days to write this I'm going to bed, nite nite all!!!!:)

A new leaf..

Ok so this past weekend I had a lot of "Marci" time to think about things and try to figure out how to move forward. I really don't like not liking my job and always complaining about it so I'm doing something about it. I always get jealous when someone says they love there job, or even like it. I can honestly say that unlike most people I actually look forward to days that I have meetings, presentations, or classes to teach: it gives me something productive to do and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I have found that if ANYONE needs to get out of a slump, watch Friends, it is hilarious, oh but you should definitely watch them in order; check them out from the library if you don't know anyone with them or want to buy them. Best thing ever:)

Well lots has been going on the since my last "major" post, you know a couple of weeks ago, I will get better at this I promise!!! Last weekend I went to lunch and frozen yogurt with my Disney friend Arin (that's a girl for anyone who cares), there is a new frozen yogurt place in Dr. Philips and they have EVERY topping imaginable and you can mix any flavor of yogurt you want (they charge you by the ounces). After that I went to the Bud Shootout in Daytona and other than the awful headache I got, I had a great time! Sunday was the Superbowl and it was the Colts vs. the Saints, honestly did not care who won though I was definitely pulling for my Colts (and was the only one doing so at my friends small gathering). It was a great game and good food and drinks were had by all, had an early morning at the gym the next day so nothing crazy;) On Wednesday I saw "Dear John" w/The Roomie and her friend The Nurse, it was good but would only recommend it as a $1 rental...

This past weekend as mentioned previously was spent as ALOT of "marci" time, we'll start w/looking for a new job, helped The Leonards book their Disney resort(!!) via skype, of course went to the gym, got my hair trimmed, them ate bad food on Sat night and watched Friends. Sunday started out at the gym...note the bad food I ate Sat night HAD to get out of my system;), met my friend Fire Girl for a pedicure, then met co-worker, Bio-Lady, at the movies for "Valentine's Day" (if you saw "He's just not that into you", then you have already seen this movie, just with a couple of different high profile actors/actresses). Finally finished up my weekend working at Disney. This is something else I made a big decision about this weekend and after a talk I had w/a mgr today, I'm pretty sure I'm going to change my status to seasonal. This will give me the flexibility to work when I want to work and not have a set schedule...I have been working every Fri and Sun night for almost 3 yrs and its getting old. Now yes I could change the nights I work but I don't really like everyone on other nights so I'm sure that wouldn't help my "situation" so to speak. No worries though I will still get discounts and passes into the parks just not as many and that's ok b/c I don't think I have ever used close to all of my passes...ever.

I have a lot coming up in the next couple of weeks...Jimmy Buffet next Thursday, work in Tampa next Thursday, BodyPump Instructor training Fri-Sun (yes 3 WHOLE days of lifting weights and learning choreography...) and then mom and dad Hummell will be here in a month!!!!

One last thing I almost forgot I have my orientation to be a volunteer at the Central Florida Ronald McDonald House on Thursday so that should be fun, its only 6 hours a month or something like that, I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Nite Nite, its time for One Tree Hill and the Bachelor!!!!

I know, I know

So no worries my friends I will be updating more later this evening but didn't want you to all think I forgot that once I started this I couldn't stop, just haven't taken the time to sit at the computer (when not at work) and write anything...so until later...

Annoyed

I would just like to reinterate how much I do not like doing powerpoint after powerpoint for the SAME program. I could understand maybe one for youth, one for medical professionals, and one for adults...honestly is that too much to ask?!?! But NO I have to do a NEW presentation for EVERY group I present to and not by choice. To top it all off I don't really even care what they are about and I know that most of the information is not going to affect at least a half of the participants and mainly because most people already have their mind made up about smoking, whether to smoke or not to smoke...ugh plus I seem to always be told to change this slide and change that one, add most statistics to ALL of these, etc, etc. SO frustrated and can't wait to see what a new fiscal year has to bring, like maybe monies to have to drowning prevention program again!!!!! Too bad the new fiscal year is not for another 5 months:(

Also I'm trying to figure out how I would be able to make a living if I just taught CPR, swim lessons, and car seat technicians (the last two would require me to take a bit more specialized training which means more money out of my pocket). To teach CPR on my own I would have to invest in manikins and all the other supplies to hold a class and for the specialized swim instructor training it can be upwards of $12,000 and approx 6-8 weeks of training Mon-Fri...AHHHH, the lead instructors for this type of training are always saying "well you could always take out a loan that's what most of the instructor candidates do."..really?!?! The Car Seat Tech Instructor would not cost nearly as much but almost the same amount of time would be required...can't figure out how I would be able to live for 6-8 weeks or more while I took the above trainings but that would be the best situation on the job front...I think...oh decisions decisions. Plus these are all things that are NEEDED everywhere and anywhere.

Another thing why are all of the new energy efficient light bulbs to big or long to fit "older" fictures?!?! I have tried 2 different bulbs and neither have worked so far, ugh so back tp Publix I go but not tonight of course b/c the Bachelor is on...see where my priorities are???

Ok well until tomorrow, or Wed or Thurs...nite nite

Go COLTS!!!

Not sure how interesting this is going to be tonight other than the fact that THE Indianapolis COLTS are going to Miami on February 7th, 2010 for the 44th Super Bowl!!!!!

The past couple of days also have not been very interesting, I have been wondering lately why I can't work from home at least one day a week, I mean I can access my e-mail and make phone calls just as easily from my couch as I can my desk...plus I won't feel like I'm wasting time by being at work. I have always had jobs where I have to actually be "working" for a good 8-10hrs a day and breaks were counted down to by the minute...now I feel like I only "work" half the day and the rest is spent talking on the phone and thinking of what I am going to do after work (I know, I know I have a job and should be happy about that but...) sometimes I don't feel that I earn my pay checks at least not "earning" like I used to (especially at Disney, that is one place that I think I earned 4 peoples pay checks!). Now I feel like they pay us depending on the amount of stress your job my entail and the people you might come across on a daily basis...who knows, no I'm not saying I want less money just saying how I feel, I can do that its my blog;)

Another thing, there are many people at work who do not care one bit what they look like even though we are supposed to dress professional unless they are nurses, lab techs, or dental hygenists/assistants so needless to say that makes me not want to put in much effort. I did suck it up yesterday and go get nice pants that actually fit me, that's right no more saggy butt;) Now this doesn't mean they aren't still a little too long, I can't help that and it requires driving to Winter Park to the tailor...hopefully I'll get those fixed next weekend. Honestly I really don't like shopping for new work clothes for the reason that if hardly anyone else seems to care then why should I put in the effort?!?! Don't think I have really shopped for work specific clothes since I first got this job almost 3 years ago, I love to shop don't get me wrong but work clothes is not a priority.

Ok enough negativeness (yes that's a word;) sorry but again its my blog where I can vent and not have to physically hear feedback (comments are good but nothing verbal;)

This past Monday I gave myself a pretty hard workout at the gym, which meant the soreness was carried over into Tuesday, Wednesday, and by the time I got to Thursday I wasn't sure how I was able to walk anymore. Took Friday off (which is a rarity) and then after my run Saturday morning, weights and yoga, Sunday came around I didn't think my right leg was going to want to bend, turns out all those years of running I thought it was a bad knee, turns out its my IT band. So needless to say I didn't go to RPM this morning and won't go tomorrow night either (really that's because I have to work until 8:30pm but still...) I will go to my group workout in the am though...after this past week though I was so sore all week you would have thought I would have never worked out in my entire life, holy sore:( I did get some new gym clothes today too (now those I LOVE to shop for) from the Nike outlet, the only place I will get Nike gear from other than Ross and Marshall's. I think its insane to really pay $45 for a pair of shorts. Plus at the Nike outlet they give Disney cast member discounts which is always helpful. The only thing I don't like about shopping there is that they never (ok hardly ever) have any shorts or pants in sizes smaller than a large and I don't feel like driving to all the outlets in town just to find one that has my size so needless to say I usually walk out of the store empty handed. Not today though I got two new shirts and a new pair of pants!!!! Can't wait to wear them:)

Went to church this morning and I'm telling you how much longer are the snowbirds here again??? I think there was someone very every since state in the US and at least 4 territories in Canada represented today...it was standing room only after they brought in more chairs, crazy I tell you. We have a new minister (pastor) and he's a pretty cool guy, he does really good at relating his message to daily life, which means I understand it and am able to follow him, YEA!!!!

Well this has gone on far too long now so off I go to finish cheering for the Saints and maybe see if Baby Ian wants to skype w/me:) Nite Nite

Just another day

So here goes nothing...I can't really imagine how exciting my life is because it really only consists of going to the gym, going to work, and coming home from work. Again nothing to get too excited about;) I do travel as much as possible (I am always counting my vacation hours so I can go somewhere, therefore I don't really have much:)

I'm just an Indiana girl living in Central Florida, came down here to live my dream of working at Disney (did that full time for 2.5 years, now I am just part time...more on that later). I have some great friends here who are not all originally from here which means that is something that has made us stronger. We understand wanting to go visit our families and friends and not having a family member (i.e. mom, dad, sister, brother, etc) to see whenever. It can be hard living here because of everyone's different work schedules (this city DOES NOT close, EVER) but we've all made it this far. My grandparents live within an hour of me so that is nice and its nice that I can see them every now and then, its nice to have a bit of "home home" here in Florida (this is what I have called South Bend since college, it helps me differentiate between where I currently live "home" and where my roots are "home home")

Ok off to watch Grey's and catch up with the DVR (goodness how I LOVE that invention)

Night Night
